Our primary objective for this project was to elevate the fan experience within the SIDEARM Mobile App platform by delivering a new, dynamic, and engaging game-day environment for college athletics fans—whether they’re at the game or watching from home. In the past, content and information about athletics events were decentralized throughout the app, causing difficulty for users. To rectify this we created Game Center, a centralized hub generated for every game that aggregates existing game-day content and information, while building in impactful new features as well.
Building more opportunities to surface high-impact game-day content such as videos and promotions, creating a robust in-venue experience, and breaking down integration barriers between ticketing platforms and SIDEARM all combined to create a more unified and frictionless fan experience. Along with these fan-facing improvements, we also unlocked new sponsorship opportunities for partner schools and incorporated robust analytics to help deliver actionable insights and further enhance the SIDEARM platform.

Designed with a module-based approach
Our primary challenge was satisfying numerous stakeholders—our product and engineering teams, partner schools, and of course, fans—all while adhering to the constraints of our legacy app design system. To tackle this project, we started from the ground up to design the Game Center by creating a library of customizable modules, enabling us to iterate quickly, adapt to changing business requirements, and experiment with the overall structure of the Game Center hub.
Game Center updates focused on bringing in previously difficult to find information all under one roof, such as head to head stats, opponent history and pre/postgame stories, while also adding powerful new features like shortform video, game-day promotion and shop modules—all of which is built to be completely configurable by partner schools. Combined with the new Stadium HQ hub, which provides fast access to game-day timelines, venue and parking maps, and in-arena activities, the result is a reimagining of the way college sports fans experience their favorite teams.
